Adorable Cat Adoption started out as a single Humboldt State University student caring for 21 abandoned cats, with the goal of giving rescued cats a second chance. Cassi lived next door to a woman who owned 32 cats! When she moved in none of the cats were spayed or neutered. Cassi was able to trap, neuter, return or TNR, the cats with the help of a local cat network, Bless the Beasts. At this time the cats were still under the care of their previous owner.
However in December of 2006, the cats’ owner was evicted. When this happened, the cats were abandoned. Through Cassi’s efforts, she arranged with her property mangers to have a “managed colony” of cats. She feared that the cats, not having a lot of exposure to other people, would be put to sleep in the shelters. So she began networking with local cat networks and was able to feed and care for all the animals, through donations from these organizations.
Now Cassi has joined her efforts with the other two creators of this website, Eric and Josie, who are also HSU students. We have a collaborative goal to save these rescued cats, as well as educate people about being responsible pet owners, as well as community members. Even if you don’t own a cat, you can make a great contribution to your local community by helping local cat networks, TNR, make a donation, or volunteer your times to allow these networks to continue their much needed services.
